Emu Nesting is a homage to our Aboriginal men, they are our– fathers, Grandad’s brothers, uncles…
Like the role of the male emu in the family, he builds and looks over the nest. He is a creator, protector and provider for his family. The woven circles of raffia represents the family/members and larger community, as each circle is individual in shape, size and colour. These are surrounded, ie held by the male depicted in emu feathers around the nesting area. The void in the middle is looking into the future as they all grow together.
